大理 Dali                                                                                   Yunnan
Dali is another old and beautiful city in Yunnan surrounded by amazing landscape. I came to Dali after Lijiang to meet up with a very good friend from Beijing, Chen Yu, whose home town is a few hours west of Dali. Myself along with her boyfriend Ed and a couple more of Chen Yu's friends from Beijing, Mike and Amy, would go to her home and celebrate the Chinese New Year (Chunjie) with her family. We spent a couple of days hanging out in Daili before taking off and did this amazing hike into the mountains above the town, turns out, in some quite deep snow. But amazing views and made a friend in a little black puppy along the way. He climbed all the way up with us. . .

some pics of the old city. . .

The three Pagodas

First had to ride horses up to the Monastery

Lunch at the Monastery

Ed and I climbing, behind the tress lurks some sort of beast. . .

It's 小雪! 'Little Snow', we named him. Followed us up from the monastery and ran all the way up with us.

Endless energy. . . think he smelled a hamburger buried in the snow. . .

Ed and Chen Yu

Chen Yu falls back, decides to take a picture. . .

Me, highest point before turning back. Snow got to 3 feet deep in some places. Wet shoes, no fun. . .

Above the monastery at a great mountain guest house, coming back to here for sure. . .

Turns out Chen Yu is friends to all the animals of the forest...cats and dogs, sleeping together. . .
