Bai Sha                                                                         Eastern Guizhou
Baisha is a Miao ethnicity village. There are many different types of Miao villages. I'm not completely
sure if this was called a 'Black Miao' ethnic group (black because of the color of the Batik clothing they
make and wear). Our van driver who brought us there was from nearby Congjiang and knew the villagers
pretty well, so it was easy to have a nice introduction to the village and be shown around.

Beautiful architecture against expansive landscape

Playing cards. This is the traditional Batik clothing. Men all carry knives and wear a head-dress.

Our driver's friend in the village, a very nice guy. . .

Our travel group: Taotao (from Beijing), Me, local villager, Peijian, Xuanying.

Making Batik cloth. After it is woven, it will be dyed black and then pounded with wood mallets for many hours
to make the cloth compact and smooth.
